The Days of Winter

In Shanghai it never gets properly cold. Well, it does get cold but it’s hardly ever freezing. The coldest time I’ve experienced was the very end of January 2016 when I came here to visit. And apparently, there was one day of light snow about two weeks ago. But at that time I was enjoying my winter break back home in Europe – all that with proper snow and below zero temperatures.

It’s strange but it’s true – being in Shanghai, I miss the strong European winter. Here, there is no real break between autumn and spring, it just gets even more rainy and a bit cooler. Curiously, due to the lack of insulation and central heating, the insides of buildings in Shanghai are actually much colder than in Europe so you might want to keep you coat on while sitting in class. What a paradox!
