My trip to Shanghai included a two-day visit to a beautiful city nearby (and by nearby I really mean close to Shanghai – hardly an hour away on the train) – Hanghzhou. It was recommended to me by a friend who spent a year there studying. It is said to be the most beautiful city in China. It certainly is pretty: it is not crowded with tourists (at least not in winter), and it is situated by a beautiful lake, whose banks are sprinkled with pagodas and traditional houses. You can take a look at my gallery, and judge Hanghzou’s beauty as well.
